History of embroidery craft

Embroidery is the art of decorating textiles using needle and thread. The word embroidery comes from the French word “broderie”, which means decoration. Embroidery is a craft that has been known since ancient times and has gone through various stages of development and improvement in terms of the materials used, designs, decorations, stitch shapes, and the way they are applied.
It is a craft that has existed since the beginning of weaving fabrics and is practiced in various parts of the world. It dates back thousands of years BC, according to archaeological discoveries from China, the Near East, and the Pharaonic period, all of which have shown fossilized remains of densely hand-sewn and decorated clothing and scattered parts of woven linen fabric.
This craft has witnessed its right to development and challenges with the passage of time and continuous technological progress, so the machine has become an important role in embroidery work and the production of various types of embroidery. The first embroidery machine appeared in 1828 AD, and embroidery at that time reached a high level of mastery and diversity and its use became widespread, but hand embroidery still maintains its position and high artistic value as a craft and industry, practiced by specialized craftsmen, who usually inherited it from their fathers.
The embroidery craft is also famous today in the fields of design and fashion innovation, as this craft has been linked to the art of fashion design, especially with technological progress and the emergence of advanced devices for embroidering fabrics, but many designers and quality lovers still prefer hand embroidery over machine embroidery, and it has gone beyond clothing embroidery to accessories such as bags, shoes, hats and tablecloths.
