Our Story:

Darzi is an old Arabic word that was used by the people of the Gulf to refer to someone who sews fabrics (tailor). The tailor is called “Darzi” after the word “darz”, which means sewing. The profession of darzi is one of the very old professions and crafts that the people of the Gulf have practiced for many years. Their shops in Qatar were located in the middle of the old market area in Doha, and some people used to call them “Al-Karkhana” in the past, after the sewing machine that was operated by hand or foot.

The establishment of a company specializing in the sale of high-quality fabrics was an idea that we had been thinking about for many years, out of our passion to revive the trade of our ancestors, who were famous in the past for the sea and for owning large wooden merchant ships such as “Al-Sanbuk” and “Al-Boom”, and for their profession of trade. They used to sail the seas to bring goods and various products, including fabrics that they imported from many cities and ports, such as the city of Surat in India, from Sindh and Sumatra, and from different countries to the ports of the Arabian Gulf coasts.
